This past Sunday, Neil shared with us on “Judgement Day”; a theme that is not often discussed in Sunday morning preaches. We looked at what judgement we rightfully deserve because of our sinful nature and tendencies to “push the truth away”. But we were also reminded of the depth of redemption Christ gives us because of His taking all our sin and therefore our deserved punishment. He is our Defence when we stand before the judgement seat of God.

Rutland Woods | Work Party Results

Rutland Woods | Work Party Results

A message from Tim Biddlecombe | 6th July 2020

A huge thank you to everyone who helped at the Woods on Saturday, and to Gwyneth for the amazing fridge cake and blueberry muffins. If you weren’t there, you really missed out!

As well as some general tidying up, we now have created 3 separate areas; two around the lake, and one at the top end of the wood. Each has its own fire pit and seating. The walkways between these areas have been cleared and widened.
The largest of the sites near the parachute canopy is a great place for camping, and the others for meeting with home group, family or friends for a camp fire.

When I volunteered to help manage the woods, I was surprised that Neil described it as a ministry, but soon came to realise that it really is. For some of the young people from King’s Reach, it may be their only place of safety, peace and contact with Christians. For others it is a place of reflection and connecting with God, or a time of fun and fellowship with friends, Home Groups and families in a unique and special environment.

So please make use of the woods. You can reserve your time there through the office at office@cotnjubilee.co.uk.

Left uncared for the undergrowth would soon cover the paths and choke the beautiful flowers; the lake would become virtually invisible and the open spaces smothered in brambles. So our next work party is on Saturday August the 8th.

Contact Tim at tim.biddlecombe@cotnjubilee.co.uk or the Jubilee Office if you are interested in being involved.

The newly cleared camping and picnic area close to the lake
Campfire site at the other end of the lake.

Over the next few weeks, we will feature one of the nations represented in Jubilee per week as we celebrate our cultural diversity. Join us on Sunday to find out more about the first one.

We will be running another Alpha Course starting the week commencing the 6th July.

The course is run over 10 weeks, meeting once a week between 7:30-9:30 over Zoom. The course looks at various topics such as “Who is Jesus?”, “How does God guide us?”, “How can I have faith?”, “Why and how do I read the Bible?” and more.
It is a great platform for any questions you might have about God or around Christianity.

Rutland Woods Work Party 4th July

A message from Tim Biddlecombe, who is our Jubilee person responsible for managing the woods:

“I hope you saw the videos of the woods during Sunday’s Zoom Celebration, and realised what a beautiful and special place it is.

When I volunteered to help manage the woods I was surprised that Neil described it as a ministry, but soon came to realise that it really is. For some of the young people from Kings Reach it may be their only place of safety, peace and contact with Christians; for others it is a place of reflection and connecting with God, or a time of fun and fellowship with friends, Home Groups and families in a unique and special environment.
This vital ministry needs your help. Left uncared for the undergrowth would soon cover the paths and choke the beautiful flowers; the lake would become virtually invisible and the open spaces smothered in brambles.

Can I encourage you to join our next work party, please? It really is a case of ‘many hands make light work’  especially if you can bring a petrol strimmer/ brushcutter!

For more details and to reserve your place, please contact me on 07850 701037 or at tim.biddlecombe@cotnjubilee.co.uk.

I look forward to seeing you there.
Thank you,
Tim.

P.S.: Gwyneth has promised to supply “goodies” for all the helpers!”

Family Weekend Away – Update

As I am sure many of you will have suspected, we will not be going ahead with the Jubilee Family Weekend, originally booked in for 26-28 June 2020.

We can now confirm that the venue has kindly agreed to postpone our booking to the weekend of 24th June 2022 (in two years’ time). 2021 was already booked up and as we wanted to have a summer booking we have taken the weekend in 2022.

The payments Jubilee has already made to the venue will not be refunded but held on deposit. Therefore, we are also proposing to hold any moneys you might already have paid and use this to secure your place in 2022. If you are happy with this, you do not need to do anything at this stage. However, we understand that for some of you, finances are tight in light of the circumstances and you may prefer to have your money back and re-book at a later stage.  If this is the case, please email office@cotnjubilee.co.uk with your full name, amount to be repaid and bank details. We will verify the amounts before refunding.
