At School of the Word (SOTW) we share the evangelical belief that the Bible is not just another book – it is the inspired Word of God, given to humanity to reveal Christ and show that He is the way to an intimate relationship with our Heavenly Father. The Bible contains God’s truth that, when applied to our lives, enables us to walk in Christ’s redemption, fullness of life and freedom.

School of The Word is a full time, non-residential Bible course set within Jubilee Church, Maidstone, UK. Jubilee Church is part of Church of the Nations (COTN), a worldwide family of local churches. SOTW students become part of Jubilee Church during the course and participate in the weekly life of worship, Sunday celebrations, home groups, with opportunities to exercise their gifts and build fulfilling relationships throughout the year.

The heart of the course is to equip students with the skills of the Inductive Study method – an approach to Bible study that allows the plain understanding of scripture. Students spend the year looking at all 66 books of the Bible and learn how to Observe – Understand – Apply what they read. This enables them to understand what is being said ‘then and there’ in order to know what it means ‘here and now’ for our lives. These study tools set students up for a lifetime of exploring and applying the eternal truths of God’s Word!

Following the biblical value of reasoning from relationship, both student-student and student-staff relationships are key. Students are offered a mentoring process by staff who have completed the course, to aid in processing what God is teaching and to help embrace the work of the Holy Spirit in their lives. We include regular times of worship, prayer and mutual encouragement.

We also plan fun outings and social events and undertake group projects and community work throughout the year, providing a holistic approach to producing maturity as followers of Christ.
